President Trump is taking off the kid gloves in his ongoing feud with the media industrial complex.

The media, even more so than the Democrats, were gutted when Mueller and Barr broke their hearts with the no collision determination.

It was a fanciful dream for the left from the start, but that did not stop the goons on certain channels from promoting the conspiracy to the hilt.

In the end, they only hurt themselves as Trump is in the clear and their ratings are in the tank. From The Hill:

The White House has directed administration officials not to attend the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) annual dinner this weekend, officials said Tuesday.

“The president and members of his administration will not attend the White House Correspondents Dinner this year,” the White House said in a statement.

CNN and Politico had reported earlier that White House Cabinet secretary Bill McGinley issued an order to agency chiefs on Tuesday morning to instruct officials to boycott the Saturday night dinner.

“We’re looking forward to an enjoyable evening of celebrating the First Amendment and great journalists past, present, and future,” Olivier Knox, WHCA president, said in a statement responding to the reports.

The decision to bar staff from attending the dinner is yet another sign of tension between the administration and the press corps, as the president has repeatedly attacked the media as “fake news” and the “enemy of the people” while singling out individual reporters for scorn.

Trump has skipped the dinner three years in a row, breaking with past presidents who attended the annual soirée and fundraiser in a show of comity with news outlets.

From Fox News:

After the controversy of last year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Trump administration officials aren’t going back for seconds.

Fox News learned Tuesday that White House staff will not be attending the annual dinner, set to be held on Saturday.

An official announcement has not yet been made. In response to the news, Olivier Knox, President of the White House Correspondents’ Association, said in a statement: “We’re looking forward to an enjoyable evening of celebrating the First Amendment and great journalists past, present, and future.”

President Trump said earlier this month he would be skipping the glitzy event this year, opting instead to hold a rally in Green Bay, Wis.

“The dinner is so boring and so negative that we’re going to hold a very positive rally instead,” Trump said.

Trump has not attended the dinner since he took office, but had suggested he might appear this year after the organization adjusted their plans and invited Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ron Chernow to speak instead of a comedian.

Comedian Michelle Wolf made waves after her performance at last year’s event, where she spoke critically of the White House and specifically Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, who attended as a representative of the Trump administration.

“I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful,” Wolf said at last year’s event. “She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.”
