Devin Nunes just went on Fox News and hit Hillary Clinton where it hurts. Look, there is no mystery here, as Devin expertly details, just simple corruption hid from view.
But Devin is determined to bring it all out in the open – sunlight is, after all, the best disinfectant we have. The House today voted unanimously to publicly release the Mueller report – it seems we have finally found a bipartisan issue – so hopefully we will get some answers soon.
From Fox News: Rep. Devin Nunes said newly released transcripts of former FBI lawyer Lisa Page’s testimony before Congress show that there was an “orchestrated effort” not to charge Hillary Clinton for her mishandling of classified information.
House Judiciary Committee Republicans on Tuesday released hundreds of pages of transcripts from last year’s closed-door interview with Page, revealing new details about the bureau’s controversial internal discussions regarding the Clinton investigation and an “insurance policy” against then-candidate Donald Trump.
On “America’s Newsroom” Thursday, Nunes (R-Calif.) said Clinton should have been held accountable for her gross negligence in her use of a private email server, but there was essentially a “conspiracy” within the Justice Department and FBI to prevent that from happening.
“The fact that she wasn’t prosecuted on something that rank-and-file people in the military and intelligence community get prosecuted for is unfathomable at this point,” Nunes said. “We are still trying to get to the bottom and clean up what has been a total disaster for the FBI and DOJ, and we’re a long way from getting it cleaned up.”
He agreed with his congressional colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who said on “Hannity” Wednesday that there are two key questions after the Page revelations: Was the Clinton investigation short-circuited to help her chances at winning the presidency? And was the Russia investigation launched as an “insurance policy” in case Trump won?
“The bottom line is that [Clinton] should have been held accountable and she wasn’t,” Nunes said.
Host Bill Hemmer asked what effect the Page revelations could have on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing Russia probe.
Nunes said the seemingly unending Mueller investigation went “off the rails” long ago, and despite months of inquiry and millions of tax dollars, there is still no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion.
“The opposite is true — it’s a fact,” Nunes said. “The Clinton campaign hired Christopher Steele to go and talk to Russians to get dirt on Trump. That’s never been prosecuted. So what in the hell is Mueller doing?”
